We are very excited to announce Pages Cheshire Street, a sister shop to Pages of Hackney. We open our doors on Saturday 4th May at 5 Cheshire Street, off Brick Lane in the space of former French & English bookshop, Caravansérail.
We will stock an eclectic selection of books by women and non-binary writers in subjects including literary fiction, politics, feminism, essays, life writing, science & technology, philosophy, psychology, landscape & environment, art, photography, music and children’s books.
Our priority is to be a friendly, welcoming bookshop that showcases female authors across many genres. We will be customer focused and encourage people of all genders to explore, discover and buy books written by women or non-binary people.
The shop continues the tradition of legendary London bookshops such as Silver Moon, SisterWrite, Persephone and, more recently, Second Shelf, along with The Feminist Library. We salute publishers such as Virago, Silver Press and And Other Stories’ Year of Publishing Women, as well as the forthcoming Primadonna Festival and many more who champion the published works of women.
We will host a regular and varied events programme, starting with two for #feministbookfortnight. The first is on 9th May when we will discuss intersectionality and feminism with contributors Eishar Kaur Wei Ming Kam & Sarah Savitt from Virago’s CAN WE ALL BE FEMINISTS? The second is on 15th May when Rebecca Tamás will read from WITCH alongside Lucy Mercer and Olivia Sudjic.
We look forward to welcoming you to our new space! 💚💜
